Bringing Hope to Victims of the LA Fires
As of January 16, 2025, the devastating California wildfires that began on the 7th have claimed more than 20 lives, scorched nearly 50,000 acres of land, and destroyed or severely damaged over 15,000 structures– with officials expecting all of these numbers to rise. Fewer than 50% of the fires have been contained.
More than 100,000 people have had to evacuate their homes, unsure of whether or not they will have somewhere to return to. Entire communities are reeling from the devastation, searching for support and a path forward.
Because of you, Feed the Children and our partners were able to respond quickly, sending additional supplies to local community partners to be distributed in some of the worst-affected areas. Almost a million pounds of food and essential supplies have been shipped or are ready to be shipped.

Recovery and healing may be slow, but together, we can make a difference and help end hunger even in times of crisis.
Feed the Children extends a special thanks to the firefighters and first responders serving in these communities, whose heroic efforts have reduced the casualty count and the total damage.
