Our History
Since its establishment in 1979, Feed the Children has been committed to ending childhood hunger. Our mission spans across religious, political, and geographic boundaries to create a world where no child goes to bed hungry. Founded on Christian beliefs, today, we are a global nonprofit organization without religious affiliations.
Originally focused on international support, we expanded our programs to address hunger in the United States, eventually arriving at our current model of fielding product donations of food and other resources from corporate donors and distributing them through a network of local community partners to assist families struggling with food insecurity. This network now includes partners across the U.S., and we currently maintain programming in 8 countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America designed to reduce hunger and malnutrition, teach healthy practices and promote self-reliance.
In the United States we distribute product donations of food and other items from corporate donors through our network of local community partners, we provide classroom support and school supplies to students in vulnerable areas, and we mobilize resources quickly to aid recovery efforts when natural disasters strike.
